I was born in Poland and lived there until 1990. Before moving to Canada in 1997, I spent several years in Boston (USA) and Tokyo (Japan) and traveled extensively in South-East Asia.
While I have a MS degree in biochemistry and have worked in research and medical laboratories in Poland and the United States, I have also always been devoted to the arts.
In Boston, I took classes at the excellent Museum of Fine Arts. During my two years in Tokyo, I studied Japanese painting and sumi-e, traditional Japanese ink calligraphy. In Ottawa, I have continued arts training at the Ottawa School of Art (OSA), studying with Morton Baslaw, Robert Hyndman, Lucia De Marinis, and others.
A flower lover and an avid gardener, I often paint floral motifs. My landscape paintings reflect my passion for travelling - I have visited over 30 countries.
I work in oils, acrylic, ink and my favourite medium, watercolour. My work has been presented at juried exhibitions at the Gloucester Gallery, Ottawa Little Theatre, and Visual Arts Centre (Orleans); displayed in local galleries including the Ottawa School of Art gallery; and shown at community outdoor art shows such as "Art on the Farm" and "Art in Strathcona Park." My paintings hang in private collections in Canada, the United States, Japan, France, Poland and Germany.
I am a member of the Ottawa Art Association, Arteast, Ottawa Watercolour Society and several Ottawa painting and drawing groups.
At the 23rd Annual Art and Photo Arteast Exhibition 2004, my painting "Before Thunderstorm" won first place in Watermedia as well as the Viewer's Choice Award. My pencil drawing of Cattleya won first place at the Ottawa Orchid Society Show in 2005.
