Kerstin Peters was born in Rüsselsheim, but moved to the small town of Nauheim during her first year of school.
Her interest in art was obvious from the beginning, but it was only in her 20’s that she studied in Kunstschule Merian-Rüsselheim under the famous German painter Inge Besgen.
Her love of painting and the progression of her career was temporarily put on hold when she began her studies in correspondence for companies and exports.
Only after moving to Ottawa with her husband, Kerstin was able to start painting again. Kerstin took courses at the Ottawa School of Art and continued with courses at the Visual Arts Centre in Orleans and with the Museum of Art schools of Canada.
Because of the birth of her two children, her time for painting was again put on hold. However, now that her two children are at school, she hopes to be able to devote more time to her favourite pastime.
Her favourite medium is acrylic resin, but she also uses oils and watercolour. Her drawings are made with charcoal and pencil.
Kerstin belongs to a group of artists which meets Sundays to draw, as well as a group of artists to paint together.
Kerstin has been a member of ARTEAST for many years and exposes regularly with ARTEAST. With the Exposure Artist out of grass in 2006, she won an award for her painting " Jessy - Forever in My Heart". She is also a member of the Ottawa Art Association and is member coordinator.
