Application Criteria |
1- Every applicant must send a PDF copy of his/her biography, four photos of their artwork and a good photo of him/herself to Jean-Pierre Allaire, our Webmaster, at: allairedigital@mac.com. No application will be considered without all the required information being provided. 2- All selected applications will be registered on a waiting list. Only the Galerie de la Rive Committee members will choose the participating artists. The immediate needs of the Galerie (i.e. oil, watercolours, abstract, etc.) is an integral part of the decision process. 3- Works will be delivered and hung by the artist on the date and time scheduled by the committee. Works must be dry, suitably framed, matted (where appropriate) and ready to display on the wall. Inappropriate or poorly framed or presented works can be refused at the discretion of the Galerie de la Rive Committee. For the regular artists, the work will be change every four months with new work. No more then three artworks can be repeated, with two hanging periods in between the repetitions. If the artist can not be present on hanging day, as per schedule, he will remove is artwork on the Friday preceding the hanging date and hang is new artwork on the Monday following. The artist will communicate with Kerstin Peters at kpeters@DomingoInformatics.ca to make arrangements. If absent for a longer period, it is the artist responsibility to make arrangements with another artist and the committee. 4- Works shown in the exhibition must be the artist’s original creation; no copy from any source (i.e. magazines, Internet, calendar, etc.) will be accepted. The subjects must be appropriate for everyone’s viewing. 5- All works hung at the Galerie must be clearly identified on the back (artist's name, title, medium, size and price). |
6- No work can be hung or removed from the exhibit without the approval of the Galerie de la Rive Committee. 7- Each artist is responsible for his/her own sales; for special events, a designated person will be responsible. The gallery does not charge any commission on the sale of works. All prices must include applicable taxes, to be collected by the artist and remitted to the appropriate government by the artist. All artists must have a valid Ontario sale permit and provide a copy of their permit to the Galerie de la Rive committee. 8- The dimensions of the works must be appropriate for the space allowed to the artist by the committee. 9- There is a $ 65 fee payable by each artist at each rotation period (4 months) (change of paintings). This fee may be increased at the discretion of the Galerie de la Rive Committee. If the fee is not paid after one warning, the artist will loose the privilege to hang at the Galerie de la Rive in the future and will have to remove his work within two weeks. We also demand that the artist participate in art demonstration on the Saturday prior to the vernissages, to provide a small gift (value of around $10.00) for the door prizes and a bottle of wine or some food for said vernissages. 10- Every participant is expected to participate in the demonstrations and in the vernissages, the sitting of the gallery, in distributing flyers, posters and invitations by mail or e-mail for said vernissages and activities, etc. The Committee may ask the participating artists to get involved in other works for the Galerie. The artist is asked to offer a small door prize, valued around $10.00, and a bottle of wine or some finger food for the vernissages. 11- For the regular artists, each artist’s hanging space will be moved three spaces clockwise at each rotation period change of artwork, or at the Committee’s discretion. The space over the door communicating with the dinning room is reserved for large paintings and will be offer by rote and by seniority to the artists, for $25.00 per hanging period. 12- Each artist will bring in two copies of the contract filled up with the appropriate information at each hanging. 13- Renewal of right to hang by regular participating artists will be reviewed annually. The committee reserves the right to refuse works of art and/or refuse or cancel artist’s participation at any time.
